Last Friday evening, I passed by a popular coffee shop located in Bujumbura’s Central Business District.  Amidst the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a group of talented professionals from the graphic design industry joined me soon after and found themselves engrossed in a spirited debate. Each one passionately defended their stance on a subject that has captivated the creative world: the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in graphic design. As the caffeinated elixir stirred their thoughts, they embarked on a thought-provoking conversation that unveiled the true potential of this innovative collaboration.

The group, comprising Mark, Alex, Sarah and Emma was enthusiastic. Mark passionately expressed his belief in AI's positive influence, citing how it enhanced his creativity and design skills. Sarah, however, voiced anxieties about AI lacking the human touch and nuanced judgment essential in design. Emma, a silent listener, shared Sarah's concerns, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of understanding clients' needs and applying experienced judgment. Just as the conversation reached a deadlock, Alex joined, supporting Mark's optimism by highlighting how AI streamlines design processes and enables more effective client collaboration. This exchange addressed the evolving role of designers in an AI-driven world, amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the coffee shop.
