The team's expertise in understanding our forward-looking vision in very little time — our Global CEO called it one of his major career highlights.
01

The Challenge

The launch of the first licensed SCD therapy in Ghana required more than a product announcement. It required a stakeholder and communications programme capable of engaging government health authorities, clinical specialists, patient communities, and media simultaneously — while maintaining scientific accuracy and regulatory compliance.

In a market where sickle cell disease affects a significant portion of the population, the stakes of getting the communications right were high.

02

Our Approach

Newmark designed a stakeholder communications programme that mapped the full landscape of relevant voices: health policymakers, clinical opinion leaders, patient advocacy groups, and health journalists.

A narrative architecture was built that placed patient outcomes at the centre — not product features — while ensuring that all communications met regulatory requirements and reflected the scientific evidence accurately.

03

Execution

The programme covered media roundtables with clinical specialists, stakeholder management with government health authorities, patient community engagement through existing advocacy networks, and media strategy across print, broadcast, and digital channels.

Spokesperson preparation ensured that Novartis representatives could engage fluently across all formats — from formal government briefings to patient community events.

04

Results

The first licensed SCD therapy was successfully launched in Ghana, with broad stakeholder support and media coverage that accurately reflected the clinical significance of the milestone.

The programme produced measurable shifts in clinical and patient community awareness and positioned Novartis as a committed long-term partner in addressing sickle cell disease in West Africa.
